Personal Tribute to Capt. Jennifer Casey of the CF Snowbirds

Personal Tribute to Capt. Jennifer Casey of the CF SnowbirdsThis video serves as a little personal tribute of mine to a Canadian Forces member whom we lost too soon. Capt. Jennifer Casey who was unfortunately killed in a crash with the CF Snowbirds on a departure just outside of Kamloops, BC. The pilot in command, Capt. Rich MacDougall has survived with non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at one of the local hospitals.

I first met Capt. Casey at Lake Simcoe Regional in June of 2018 with my friend Mike as she was the Narrator and Public Affairs Officer (PAO) for the CF-18 Hornet Demo Team at the time. We both introduced ourselves and sparked a conversation, eventually linking up again at the Great Lakes Int’l Airshow at St. Thomas Municipal for a chat and an autograph on my Hornet brochure. Later that year she transitioned to the CF Snowbirds under the same role and I was able to chat and receive an autograph from her and the entire team at their last Canadian show of the year then at Peterborough for the Peterborough Airshow.

I last saw her at Lake Simcoe Regional where we met two years prior as the CF Snowbirds had just landed there from London as apart of Operation Inspiration. And just a week later, the unfortunate news broke out.

Although I may not have had a large connection with Capt. Casey as many out there did, she was an exceptional woman who truly encouraged, motivated and inspired others. In my view, the Hornet Demo Team and Snowbirds were incredibly lucky to have her as PAO during her time.

In conclusion, my deepest condolences to Jenn’s family, friends and the entire team of the CF Snowbirds. And wishing Capt. Rich MacDougall, pilot of the Snowbird aircraft the speediest of recoveries.

Blue skies,

Ernest G.
