ALTA Member Airlines Passenger Traffic Increases 1.6% in October

 The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 11.7 million passengers in October, up 1.6% from the previous year. 


Traffic (RPK) grew 3.4% and capacity (ASK) increased 7.4%, bringing down the load factor to 73.7%, 2.8 percentage points lower than in October 2010. 

The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 3.4% versus the same period the previous year, reaching 115.1 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 4.8%, capacity (ASK) increased 1.7%, and the passenger load factor reached 75.3%, 2.2 percentage points higher than the previous year. 

Freight ton kilometers increased 8.1% in October and 4.7% year to date.
