NORAD Exercise | RCAF CF-18 Hornet’s + USAF F-16 Fighting Falcon’s Action | Toronto Pearson Int’l

NORAD Exercise | RCAF CF-18 Hornet’s + USAF F-16 Fighting Falcon’s Action | Toronto Pearson Int’lHello everyone! Welcome to this video!

Now this was just pure awesomeness. A thought of mine that became a reality.

Yesterday a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Exercise took place over Toronto. The second one publicly announced in just under a few months. This time the players would feature two Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet’s, two United States Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon’s and one USAF KC-135 Stratotanker. The exercise would be taken place at altitudes around 22,000ft and was planned from 1100-1300hrs.

So I headed out to Toronto Pearson Int’l to see if I could salvage something. The KC tanker under the call sign MOLSON01 was constantly doing orbits overhead however I wasn’t able to see anything. Then Toronto Departure cleared VIMY11 flight (the Hornets) into the control zone for RWY 33L pattern work! I was blown away! What surprised me even more was that MUDDY41 flight (the Fighting Falcon’s) joined them for an overhead and then exited the zone while the Hornets stayed and ripped up the pattern at RWY 33L.

Truth be told, after a year of almost no airshows, this was some much needed noise and some much needed burner. Purely awesome! Big thanks to the fighter drivers, NAV Canada for the clearance and NORAD for protecting our skies hours a day, 365 days a year. Enjoy the video!

Cheers,
Ernest G.
