Canadian International Air Show 2016 Arrivals September 1, 2016

Canadian International Air Show 2016 Arrivals September 1, 2016Hello everyone! Welcome to Plane Spotting at Toronto Pearson Int’l Airport. Today was Thursday, September 1, 2016. The day of the Canadian International Air Show 2016 Arrivals. So I headed to Toronto with some friends of mine looking to catch all of the arrivals coming in, and we sure got the whole lot of them.

To start things off, the Breitling Jet Team had already arrived early Monday, with their Fairchild Swearing Metroliner support jet having a filed a flight plan from their previous air show airport. Little did I know that after it landed the whole team arrived a few moments later. So that was sadly a bust. But I did get to see them on Thursday take a flight down to the Toronto Waterfront to practice and return to Toronto.

Unknown to us until last minute, Snowbird 10 and 11 buzzed Toronto on a low run and landed RWY 06L, unfortunately, we didn’t know and didn’t see it until last minute, and we were still at RWY 23.

Next was the RCAF CF-18 Hornet Demo Team, HORNET01 from Trenton. Called in on Toronto arrival and was given a RWY 05 landing, so we headed there and caught him buzz the tower and come in for a RWY 05 landing.

The Snowbirds were right after HORNET01, we spotted them staging south of Toronto in tight circles so we figured they would come to RWY 05 but they went to RWY 06L sadly due to too much traffic at RWY 05. We still got them good though.

After that, we heard on the ATC Scanner that single Snowbird, Snowbird 5 was landing RWY 05 so we went there and caught him landing.

And finally, the highlight of the day, the USN F/A-18F Super Hornet Demo Team, coming a little later past 12:40 HRS LOCAL. They called in as EMPIRE21 and got a RWY 06L landing assigned. We quickly went there and sure enough, they showed up not too long after and were given an overhead flyby RWY 06L and a break into land which was flipping amazing from them. A great way to conclude the day!

What’s not filmed in this video is REAPER01, the RCAF CT-156 Texan II which landed around 17:50 HRS LOCAL at Toronto. By that time, we had already left.

Thanks to everyone for watching this video and I’ll catch you all in the practice video tomorrow! Enjoy!
