FSX – McDonnell Douglas MD-83 Meridiana Air. Meridiana Air was founded in 1986, with previous corporate name Universair, SA, and the company name changed to Air Meridiana, SA in December 1990. In mid-1990 it was acquired by Meridiana Spanish Aviation Company, SA, to integrate, along with Canary Airlines, SA (LAC) and Euravia, the draft scheduled airline holding that led, controlled by Shah Karim al-Hussayni, the Aga Khan IV. In December 1990 it changed its name to Meridiana Air, SA, becoming the operating company of the four mentioned, and integrating the same to most of the staff from LAC and Euravia and the fleet of five MD-83 LAC. Throughout 1990 and 1991, in addition to the operational integration process mentioned, it incorporated four BAe 146-300 for the start of its regular flight operations, leaving virtually the charter operation. From September 1991, the regular operation was performed mainly from the airports of Valencia and Barcelona, but kept the operational center in Palma de Mallorca.
