Air Canada 777s – Windy LandingsHere are multiple Air Canada Boeing 777s landing at Canada’s busiest airport, Toronto Pearson International. This video is just the start of many more to come from Toronto, as I spent almost an entire day spotting there on June 23rd.
Summary of the day: I got at the Wendy’s by Airport Road shortly after 11am. I spent a short time there before realizing that it was very windy, and thus planes were using the crosswind runways, 33L and 33R. I had never needed to spot alongside those runways before, so it took a little while to find a good location. At first, I found an incredible spotting location on the right side of 33L, providing very good and close-up views of arriving planes. However, before setting up my gear, I noticed many security guards nearby and figured they would probably tell me to leave. After that, I found another spot under the approach of 33L, but security said it was too close to the fence. Packing up my gear again, he suggested another location. This is the one featured at the first 3 clips of this video, on a large hill overlooking the runway. It’s nearly perfect for the view, with small obstructions, however as it was very windy and I was on a hill with no wind block, the footage is a bit shaky for videos from that location. Anyways, later on, near 5:00pm, the winds changed a bit and runway 23 was back in use and that’s where I spent the rest of the evening, until 8:00pm. (Also, apparently the way I rendered this video prevented it from being 720p.)
