Rapid Descent of Airbus A380 from FL400
Extensive deployment of Speedbrakes/Spoilers puts Airbus A380-800 into a rapid dive
The speedbrakes are extensively used to get the Airbus A380-800 from Flight Level FL400 (40000 ft) to FL280 (28000 ft) within 2 minutes. New York Center Air Traffic
Control most likely ordered the pilots to get down to that level so quickly. It felt like a steep dive. I’ve never seen such a deflection of the speed brakes. To be fair the same device (spoiler) is more deflected after touchdown.
