First flight for Air Lituanica

aviation_newsOn Sunday, the 30th of June, Air Lituanica conducted its very first flight to Brussels. The carrier’s aircraft took off from the runway of the Vilnius International airport at 6:30 pm and reached its destination at 8:05 pm (local time). The first flight was filled by 95% and people remain no less active in booking flight tickets for the upcoming carrier’s flights.

According to the CEO of Air Lituanica Erikas Zubrus, the local market have proven to be very welcoming to the first flights of the Lithuanian airline. “We are very pleased with the fact that more tickets are being sold to foreigners wishing to visit Vilnius rather than Lithuanians travelling abroad. This will undoubtedly have a positive effect on developing tourism and attracting new visitors to the country,” said E.Zubrus.

When greeting the new carrier the Head of Aviation Marketing at Brussels airport Léon Verhallen pointed out that the 6 weekly evening flights from Brussels to Vilnius would guarantee fast, frequent and convenient connections for business and leisure travellers between both cities. “It goes without saying that we are extremely proud that Brussels is the first destination of Air Lituanica,” added L.Verhallen.

The first carrier’s aircraft departure from Brussels was encorted by traditional water cannons used for welcoming new airlines to the airport. There are 65 airlines currently flying to and from the Brussels airport. Together they carry around 1.7 million of passengers each month.
