Lockheed Martin to provide training program to Air Busan

The flight simulation training center at Incheon Airport is growing fast to become a central training facility for pilots of national low-cost airline companies. US Lockheed Martin Corporation, the co-operator of the training facility, signed a contract with Air Busan on February 13 to provide dedicated training for pilots who will be flying new state-of-the-art aircraft.

Previously, Air Busan had to designate new pilot training as well as continuation training for the new model (A320) it bought from Air Bus to foreign training facilities in Singapore, Hong Kong, etc. paying as much as 2.5 times more for the training, since there was not a flight simulation training facility the company could use in the country.

With this new contract, however, it is expected that low-cost airlines will save a great amount of foreign currency and training expenses, at the same time being able to train pilots with world-class training programs offered by the Human Resource Development Center at Incheon Airport which has been the first in the world to be certified as a training institute for aviation professionals by the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Now in charge of providing dedicated training programs for three national low-cost airlines including Jeju Air, Tway Air and Air Busan, the training center is fast gaining recognition as a central training facility for flight simulation training in the country.

President of US Lockheed Martin Corporation, Frank Bogaard, commented that, “We are planning to provide a world-class training program to Air Busan” and “We are also in the process of preparing for additional investment in training equipment, as well as training programs for low-cost airlines in Korea.”
