AEGEAN AIRLINES Launches DIirect Scheduled Flights from Athens to Prague

AEGEAN, the largest Greek carrier and a member of Star Alliance network, today launched new direct services from Athens to Prague, the political, economic and cultural Centre of the Czech Republic. AEGEAN will connect Athens to Prague with 3 flights per week. The aircraft will depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from Athens International Airport at 09:20 and will return from Prague International Airport at 11:40 (local time). The flights will be operated with AIRBUS A320 aircraft, with 168 seating capacity, in dual class configuration.

Dimitris Gerogiannis, Chief Executive Officer of Aegean Airlines stated: “I am extremely delighted to finally see Prague on our European map and look forward to carrying both business and leisure travelers to and from this highly popular destination. Prague is one of Europe’s most exciting cities and has long been on our wish list of destinations to fly to. Our flights from Prague offer convenient connections over our base of Athens to an extensive network of more than 10 popular destinations throughout Greece. We look forward to flying between our capitals and bring our hospitality to the people of Czech Republic”.

“We are happy to announce Aegean airlines has launched regular flights to Athens, Greece, enabling Prague Airport to maintain this regular route on its list of destinations. Because our prior experience and the fact that Greece is one of the ten most attractive destinations for people flying out of Prague, I am convinced that the new route will attract a sufficient number of passengers. Interestingly, in 2011 over 470,000 people used flights between Prague and Greece” Stanislav Zeman, Executive Director for Aviation Business, Marketing, and Product Management pointed out.

The new direct flights add much more than just new routes to AEGEAN’s network. They bring Athens, the capital of Greece closer to Prague, one of the most popular tourist destinations creating new opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural exchange. Prague – historical pearl of Europe – is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Since 1992 the historical core of the city covering 866 hectares has been listed in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
