Minister publishes report on future of Cork & Shannon airports

  Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar has published the report by Booz & Company on the ownership and structures for Cork and Shannon airports. 



Last October Minister Varadkar commissioned Booz & Company to identify and analyse all likely options regarding the ownership and operation of Cork and Shannon airports and to make clear recommendations as to the optimal ownership and operational structures for the airports. 



The Booz & Company Report contains commercially sensitive information, much of which was provided on a confidential basis. However, in response to numerous requests, the Minister has today published a redacted version of the report, with all confidential information protected. 



“The future of Cork and Shannon Airports has been in limbo since 2008 when a decision was made by my predecessor, as Minister for Transport, to defer taking a decision an airport separation. I intend to end the uncertainty about these airports this year. 



“It is clear that the status quo is not working and substantive change is needed in the way the State airports operate, especially in this difficult trading environment.” 



The Report, which has been noted by the Government, is now the subject of detailed engagement with all
