Asiana Provides Light of Hope to Angkor Wat, Cambodia

– Asiana installs additional solar powered streetlights at Angkor Wat(World Cultural Heritage appointed by UNESCO)
– Asiana signs CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) agreement with KOICA(Korea International Cooperation Agency)
Asiana Airlines (President & CEO: Young-doo Yoon) along with KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) installed additional solar powered streetlights at, World Cultural Heritage appointed by UNESCO, Angkor Wat.

It is Asiana’s second time to install the solar powered streetlights after Asiana installed the 16 solar powered streetlights in August of 2010 to aid to preservation in protecting the World Cultural Heritage on Asiana’s destination and to protect tourists visiting these sites. Also Asiana has signed CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) agreement with KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) 24th of October last year.
KOICA’s global CSR program is a business agreement made between KOICA and Private sectors in aiding grant type aid towards developing countries in which the parties divide the business. Asiana’s global social contribution towards Asiana’s operating destinations such as Vietnam, Philippines and Cambodia was highly acknowledged by KOICA in which KOICA signed the CSR agreement.
The 18 solar powered streetlights that are contributed use incandescent lamps (150w) in which the lamps emission only 240kg of CO2 which is equivalent to planting 86 pine trees. Asiana will install 17 additional solar powered streetlights early 2012 in which Asiana will continue to be the leader in the green management in protecting the environment.
Meanwhile, Asiana Airlines operates daily flights between Incheon and Siem Reap by using an A321 177 seat aircraft.
