FSX RAS2008 Mk IX HAF BF273. Alternative, light grey-blue textures for the RealAir Spitfire 2008 Mark IX High Altitude Flight’s BF273 aircraft. Some sources describe this livery for BF273 (rather than the default’s dark blue) but whichever, they both show off the beautiful lines of RealAir’s model. On 12 September 1942 this aircraft, flown by Flying Officer Emanuel Galitzine, a Russian prince, fought the highest air battle of WW2. Flying BF273 he intercepted a Junkers JU86R above Southampton at 41,000 feet. The battle continuing up to 43,000 feet. Although Galitzine’s cannon jammed and the Junkers escaped with just one hit, it was enough for the Luftwaffe to cease high altitude attacks against England. DXT5 textures by Grant MacLean.
