The SPN is great for both the GA and airline pilot, with new features added monthly. You can access the SPN both in flight or in your simradar.com account profile. One of the reasons you would use it offline at simradar.com is to add information before your flight so you have it ready the moment you get in the cockpit when you access the SPN via the kneeboard.
