– McDonnell FH-1 Phantom I

McDonnell FH-1 Phantom I. In early 1943 the U.S. Navy asked McDonnell to draft designs for a jet-powered fighter, and issued a contract for the twin-engined prototype on August 30, 1943. The prototype XFD-1 Phantom first flew on January 26, 1945. It had very notable events in aviation history as it was the first to take to the air on the power of only one engine, was the first jet to take off and land aboard a carrier on July 21, 1946 and was the first jet to be assigned to Navy and Marine Squadrons. The FH-1 blazed the trail for future jet fighters. These are the basic virtual models for FSDS, AutoCad and GMax. These models provide approximately 99% of the parts for creating a working virtual model for CFS2, CFS3, FS2000 and FS2002. Model creation by J-P Demmerle.
