Emergency Landing: WestJet Smoke in Cockpit Landing RWY 05 @ Toronto Pearson Int’l March 13, 2016
Hello everyone! Here is the next video for spotting on Sunday, March 13, 2016. After filming the Kalitta Air Boeing 747-400F depart, we got word that a WestJet Boeing 737-800/Winglets that left 10 mins after it made a U-Turn and was returning to Toronto with a 1 Charlie, smoke in cockpit. We jumped in the cars and headed to the Infield since we heard on the Scanner he’d be landing RWY 05. We got there just as he touched down and Tower instructed him and told him he can come to a full stop, the emergency vehicles will make their checks and you can proceed at the go. WESTJET1244 was met by RED 1, 2 and 4, AERIAL 21 and also INSPECTION 35. Mississauga Fire was also dispatched with Pumper 109 and another truck that I wasn’t able to get. After all the checks were done, the WestJet taxied back to the gate with the Pearson Fire Services trailing and Mississauga Fire also left after as well. Great work done by the Pilots of the WestJet and the Emergency Services for executing this landing in a professional matter.
