Plane Hits Pigeon Flock

Plane Hits Pigeon Flock

Lufthansa flight LH953 (Birmingham to Frankfurt) plowed into a flock of homing/racing pigeons after take off on 8th September 2014. At least three pigeons struck the plane – two on the wing leading edge and one on the engine casing. Thankfully, none appeared to enter the engines.

If your pigeon flock would have been heading roughly west across the airport area around 9-30am, I’m afraid this is the reason for its demise.

The video shows normal speed, quarter speed, and finally enlargement at twelfth speed.
