K7 Glider Fast Winch Launch, Circuit and Landing
A short training flight in the K7 glider, with an exceptionally fast winch launch requiring me to wave-off twice to the winch driver to slow down. The rest was a typical circuit after failing to find lift nearby. Notice that at the time I needed to improve my speed control during the final stages of landing, as you can hear my instructor keep saying “nose down” to increase airspeed, due to the factor of the wind backing and decreasing when altitude decreases. For some reason I was afraid to further lower the nose. This is when filming comes in handy: I get to see what I am doing wrong. You will also notice I relied too much on instruments and my lookout was not adequate in my opinion. I also don’t know if this is due to the camera angle, but the string appears to be off to the side for quite a lot of time. Getting rid of the “rust” of two years of no flying seems to take a long time.
