Pilots assigned to the 510th Fighter Squadron take-off to Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., for Red Flag June 13, 2014, from Aviano Air Base, Italy. Red Flag is a realistic training exercise that gives pilots the opportunity to expend live air-to-ground ordnance versus a robust adversary. This Red Flag is unique because it is the first time in 8 years that the 510th will participate. Throughout the exercise, they will be dropping ordnance on the Nellis bombing ranges, which will be the largest weapons allocation that any squadron has dropped during a single Red Flag.
