SBSP Rwy 17R Damp/Wet – Congonhas Approach Drizzle

Approach and land at SBSP — Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport at a very wet and raining week on the whole country, lucky for me the runway was not really wet, more like damp instead due to the drizzle at that time. The rain repellent always doing a great job to keep the windshield clear enough, so we don’t need wipers on for approach.

No music, no big explanations but it is always a challenge and lots of fun to land on an airport like Congonhas, and as a bonus to perform a short land, we almost overtook the aircraft landing prior to us by exiting on the first taxiway…. maybe next time!LOL

FAQ
1- Why the displays keep blinking?(flickering effect) This only happens when filming an old CRT equipped aircraft, it’s basically because, the display refreshing itself at a speed of around 60hz-100hz (60-100 times per second) this is generally not seen by the human eye, but then try to film the display, and the combination of the shutter on the camera, and the refresh rate of the display, causes a percievable flicker. This doesn’t happen with LCD displays equipped aircraft though, because the screen itself is not constantly refreshing.

2- I don’t see the ground spoilers lever moving after touchdown, did you not use spoilers for landing?
Unlike the Boeing, the lever is only used in flight to set speedbrakes out and pulled before landing to arm the ground spoilers. Once you touchdown it will remain steady, and pilots should look to the ECAM display to check proper ground spoilers deployment, the lever unlike on Boeing will never move by it self and is no indication that ground spoilers have been deployed or not.
