ALTA Member Airlines Passenger Traffic Increases 3.7% in April

 The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 11.8 million passengers in April, up 3.7% from the previous year. 


Traffic (RPK) grew 6.0% and capacity (ASK) increased 4.9%, bringing up the load factor to 76.3%, 0.8 percentage points higher than in April 2011. 


The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 5.8% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 48.1 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 7.6%, capacity (ASK) increased 8.3%, and the passenger load factor reached 75.5%, 0.5 percentage points lower than the previous year. 
Freight ton kilometers decreased 3.2% in April but climbed 8.4% year-to-date.
