Serbia extends deadline for bids for Jat Airways

(WAPA) – Serbia today announced that the deadline for bids to acquire the company Jat Airways has been postponed to October 31; the minister of infrastructure said that the extension of the term of the tender offer has been based on the request of some competitors, who sought additional time to better prepare their offers. A ministerial spokesman said that several internatioal carriers have showed interest in the purchase of Jat.

Under the terms of the contract, bidders must be operators of commercial air transport services, or financial backers with investment in airlines of at least 5 percent, must have carried more than one and a half million passengers in 2010 and show a consolidated balance sheet of at least 200 million euros.

In 2010 the company had announced a recorded loss of 16.5 million euros for 2009 and borrowed state funding at a value of 51.5 million in order to renew the fleet.
