– Video–Middle River Approach

Video–Middle River Approach. This video depicts the fun and challenge of flying the Middle River Approach into Washington National Airport. Every size aircraft allowed into DCA has probably flown this visual approach, and you should, too. But don’t expect to be perfect on your first try. Basically, the flight follows the Potomac River from about 10 DME out southeast to runway 19. It is not a straight path. It is one of the few VFR flights with its own approach plate (included in the download). This is an especially fun flight at dusk or at night when the scenery really shines. The seven-minute video is a WMV file, playable on Windows Media Player or the DivX Player, both freeware programs. It was great fun putting together. By Charles Wood. 27,5 Mb
