FS2004 Gere Sport Biplane. The Gere Sport Biplane is a 30’s era homebuilt biplane, designed and built by George “Bud” Gere, who was killed in an accident before he could witness his plane’s first flight. Early models used Ford Model T and Model A engines. There are several of these planes still being built and flown. This FS2004 version is powered by a Continental C-90-12F engine, which gives it a cruise speed of over 100 mph. It was created using actual plans (from the EAA 1933 Flying Manual) and the flight model accurately simulates an actual Gere Sport (N4686T) that the author owned and flew during the mid 80’s. It was slightly tail-heavy, and that might have been due to the large Maule tailwheel that it was fitted with. Not much in the way of instruments, so this won’t be your favorite IFR bird.
