Japan sends SDF to support UN Ebola mission

7b577ae20abf2d1c68f87ade6eb17944The Japan government is all set to fly an Air Self-Defence Force (SDF) transport aircraft to supply 20,000 sets of personal protective equipment to the Ebola-hit West African region, media reported, informs IANS.

It is the first time that SDF aircraft will go abroad as part of Japan’s contribution to the international fight against the deadly Ebola virus, Kyodo news reported Friday.

AW189 completes demonstration tour

The tour, which started in Den Helder in the Netherlands and ended in Stavanger, Norway, included dedicated AW189 presentations, static and in-flight demonstrations.

Lufthansa, special evacuation aircraft handed to Germany

Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr handed over an Airbus A340-300 for its new role in Berlin on Thursday (27 November). At the request of the Federal Foreign Office, Lufthansa Technik spent the last few weeks converting what was previously a passenger aircraft called the “Villingen-Schwennigen” so that it could be used for this special humanitarian mission. Under its new name, the “Robert Koch”, it now serves as the world’s only evacuation facility for highly contagious patients.

CHC cancelled preferred-shares rights offering

802df5a096d94b02532c218b96a5dc05CHC Group Ltd., the parent company of CHC Helicopter, today announced that it has cancelled a rights offering of preferred shares in the company that had been made to existing shareholders.

Completion of the rights offering to holders of CHC’s ordinary shares was dependent upon receiving at least $50 million in total demand from the company’s shareholders. Because total commitments at the time of the offering’s 5 p.m. EST Monday expiration were less than $50 million, the rights offering will not be completed.

Dassault Falcon to expand MRO capacity at Bordeaux-Merignac

219ab0bc8d02f29a07504bae30fbb4a0Dassault Falcon Service has announced plans to build a heavy maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport in southwestern France.

The 7,200 sq. meter facility will be built on a parcel of land adjacent to the Dassault Aviation manufacturing plant and will serve Falcon 7X, 8X and 5X large cabin aircraft. It will complement DFS’s existing MR&O installations at Le Bourget Airport near Paris.

Trans States Airlines to operate American Airlines’ aircraft

d1b2faf6230daf660e3cb8a25de390d4Trans States Airlines announced that it has finalized an agreement with American Airlines to operate at least 15 Embraer E145 aircraft under the American Eagle brand. Deliveries are slated to begin in April of 2015 at a rate of two per month until all aircraft are in place.

“The Embraer 145s are an important part of our regional operation to ensure customers in small- and medium-size markets can access our growing global network from their communities,” said Kenji Hashimoto, senior vice president of regional carriers for American Airlines.

CAA UK to ease experimental aircraft proofing

de523f4a340fb4f325cbedff0f290f2fA proposal to simplify the initial testing process for experimental aircraft in the UK will benefit small-scale aircraft designers and manufacturers, as well as encouraging the growth of aerospace excellence in new design concepts.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has launched a consultation aimed at reducing the red tape and financial burdens associated with securing airworthiness and operational approval for new light aircraft designs.

Another MD 520N received by California police

323a3459238d3911c915b60e81296761MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI) today announced the formal delivery of a new MD 520N helicopter to the Burbank and Glendale Police Joint Air Support Unit located in the state of California.

With this delivery, Burbank and Glendale will own four (4) MD 520N helicopters. Joining the MDHI team at the Company’s Mesa, Arizona headquarters were Lt. Stewart Brackin and Sgt. Rich Phillips, Glendale Police Department; Captain Mike Albanese and Pilot Steve Conaway, Burbank Police Department; and Rich Weiser, Director of Maintenance, Glendale/Burbank Police Air Support.
