Welcome to Perfect Flight

SWISS now offers automated check-in, too

SWISS has added a new “automated check-in” service to its range of check-in options. The new facility is available for flights that are booked via swiss.com. Customers can indicate when making their booking online whether they wish to leave the check-in formalities to SWISS or prefer to check themselves in as before.

SWISS customers who book their flight via the swiss.com website can now opt to be automatically checked in for it. The customers concerned can indicate when making their booking whether they wish to use the new “automated check-in” service or prefer to use the web check-in facility as before.

With the new automated check-in option, SWISS will complete the check-in formalities and – as with web check-in – assign the passenger a seat. The traveller will then be sent their boarding pass around 20 hours before their flight’s scheduled departure, either by email in PDF format or by email or SMS text message in the form of a mobile boarding pass. Automated check-in also offers the customer the option of changing their seat: this can be done – subject to availability – via a link that is sent to them together with their boarding pass.

The new automated check-in facility is available to all travellers who book their flight at least three days in advance via the swiss.com website. In providing the new service, SWISS is offering its customers an even smoother and simpler air travel experience.

The automated check-in service is subject to a few restrictions. It must be available at the airports of departure for both the outbound and the return flight. And additional passenger data are also required at certain destinations for immigration purposes. In some cases, such data must be provided by the customer at least 72 hours prior to departure if they wish to take advantage of the automated check-in facility.

SWISS also continues to offer all its conventional check-in options such as web check-in, mobile check-in and quick check-in via the self-service machines on the airport’s check-in concourse.
