Handling Notes for the 'wartime' CANT Z.506

with Alfa Romeo AR126/RC34 engines driving vintage era

Alfa Romeo electronic Controllable Pitch airscrews.

****************************************************

These handling notes should be displayed and printed

using a fixed spacing font such as Courier.

To retain full control of the simulation you will need

to understand the supplied Z.506 Crew Training Manual.

To understand the doctrine that drove these procedures

it is necessary to understand the supplied Z.506 wartime

contextual history. Those documents are within the

READ BEFORE FLIGHT FOLDER.

The early series Bristol Pegasus engines are too

primitive to have cowl flaps to control engine cooling

drag co-efficient.

Usable fuel with no bombs at all for

MR / CE / PR / MET / BDA / ASR sorties is 3,000Kg.

By design a formation bomber or lone ASW sortie loads

800Kg of weapons and has only 2,200Kg usable AVGAS.

Use the MSFS fuel / payload menu accordingly.

Only early and mid series Z,506s have a powered

extendable turret operated using the MSFS spoiler key.

See Crew Training Manual.

The following procedures are cited only in the

supplied Crew Training Manual;

1)  Multiple crew locations

2)  Door, window and ventral turret animations

3)  Configuring human Field of View and cameras

4)  On water engine start up

5)  Airscrew and engine RPM management via the rheostats

6)  Realistic use of the many other real gauges

7)  Water handling

8)  Use of P2 as a 'human AP'

9)  In flight engine shut down

10) Engine out procedures

11) Z.506S Airone Soccorso parachute air drop mission

12) Z.506B blockade runner photographic mission

13) Agile flight

14) Fuel versus payload planning

ENGINE OVERSPEED:

This simulation has a 'whoop whoop' engine and turbine

overspeed warning horn that was not present in the

real Z.506. It replaces the shouted or gesticulated

engine overspeed warning that would have been issued

by another crew member in real life.

These vintage era engines have no RPM governor.
