Navigation charts are notoriously difficult to master because they are written in what seems to be a completely different language. In reality, it is just a matter of familiarity and as simple as reading. There is a document series by Jeppesen entitled “The Chart Clinic” that will tell you more than you could ever wish to know on the subject. Check it out at https://fsxmissionshangar.com/node/739 HAARP THREE
ARRIVAL This chart begins with your entry on radial 313 of Rockdale (RKA) VOR. It shows the zig zag course you will fly to finally land at LaGuardia airport, runway 22. This 150 mile arrival will keep you busy tuning in eight different VORs. You will be reading many radials and DMEs in order to get onto your final 224* at LGA. LGA ILS RWY 22
APPROACH You will intersect YOMAN at 10.6 DME and 3000 feet, then begin a descent to 1900 feet. At GREKO you will begin final on a 3* glideslope. Land on runway 22 at KLGA. For a missed approach, fly runway heading of 225* on LGA VOR R-225. Fly to and hold at PROUD at 3000 feet. |
NOTES
URD localizer110.5 at KLGA works very erratically for an ILS landing. I recommend following LaGuardia VOR LGA on frequency 113.1 until you have the runway in sight.
