1 MODEL FEATURES ************************************************************

The aircraft model, completely reworked as regards to the original model released many years ago, has been designed using Abacus Flight Design Studio v3.51 www.Abacuspub.com and compiled for FSX with makemdl.exe. The model can be used in FSXA, but with DirectX9 graphic mode.
The present model is painted in two different liveries of Italian Air Force examples.
The first one shows the aircraft as used in the first period by the 41st Wing A/S Sigonella (Syracuse, Sicily) of Aviation for the Navy. They are employed with mixed crews of the Air Force and Navy. The same group of flight operations is placed in the employ of the Navy. Tasks of the research are anti-submarine warfare (anti-submarine), maritime patrol, reconnaissance and photographic and electronic search and rescue.
The second livery shows the aircraft of the same wing in a current new livery all grey and with updated electronic equipment.
Enclosed there are two other special commemorative paint schemes made by G.Hatalicchio & A.Ceci.

The panel has been made with FS Panel Studio, http://www.fspanelstudio.com/. The photorealistic panel uses all expressly made gauges made by Jean-Pierre Langer. This new version of the model has an animated 3D virtual cockpit. In Documents folder youll find a document made by Jean Pierre Langer and Arme Bartels which explains various function of the 2d panel with all its gauges.

(*)The switch on the 2d panel for the bomb bay is not operative.
Above each wing surface are situated three separate moving panels , the inner panel act only as spoiler and are activated with the default FS assignation () while the two outer ones are spoilerons and move tied to movement of ailerons.
Below each wing are also modeled three panels which act as airbrake together with the spoiler panel above the wings.

3 HISTORICAL NOTES **********************************************************

The Atlantic 1 originated in a 1957 NATO requirement (NMBR-2) for a long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft. The winner was the BREGUET Br.1150 (this company being absorbed by Marcel Dassault in 1971), fabricated by the SECBAT (Societ dEtudes et de Construction de Breguet Atlantic) consortium, which then included SABCA and SONACA in Belgium, Fokker in Holland, Dornier and MBB in West Germany, Aerospatiale in France and Aeritalia in Italy. Assembled by Breguet , the first of four prototypes was flown at Toulouse on 21 October 1961.
Carrying 12 crew, the Atlantic is equipped with Thompson-CSF search radar in a retractable bin and American ASW avionics similar to those of the Lockheed Neptune. Standard NATO stores can be carried in the 30ft (9.15 m) unpressurized weapons bay in the lower section of the double-bubble fuselage, most of the external skin is being light alloy sandwich. The first of 20 examples for the West German Navy and 40 for Frances Aeronavale entered in service in December 1965. French aircraft serve with 21F and 22F at Nimes-Garons and 23F and 24F at Lann-Bihou. The Aeronavale began retirement of first generation Atlantics in 1992, although some aircraft will be retained for surveillance tasks, perpetuating the detachments already established at Djibouti, Dakar, Reunion, and in the Antilles.
German Atlantics of MFG5, Kiel-Holtenau, have completed an update involving new Texas Instruments radar, Emerson Electric sonar and Loral ESM equipment in wingtip pods. In parallel, airframe improvements have doubled flying life to 10.000 hours. By contrast the six survivors of nine delivered to n321 squadron of the Royal Netherlands navy at Valkenburg in 1969-72 being phasing out in January 1984, replaced by P3Cs.
Italys 18 Atlantics were supplied between June 1972 and July 1974 to complete production, and were operated by 30 Stormo at Cagliari/Elmas and 41 Stormo at Catania/Sigonella on patrols on the Mediterranean.
Pakistan obtained three from French navy in 1975-76; wearing navy titles, these were flown by n 29 squadron of the Pakistan Air force from Sharea Faisal.
In 1978, the French Government authorised development of a new, updated version of the Atlantic, the Atlantic Nouvelle Generation (later known as the Atlantique 2 when orders from other nations did not occur). While airframe and engines of the new aircraft changed little, other equipment and avionics were considerably revised, with a new radar, a new sonar processor and tactical computer, with a FLIR turret under the nose. The ability to carry Exocet missiles was also added. Two prototype Atlantique 2s were produced by converting existing Atlantics, with the first flying on 8 May 1981, with production being authorised on 24 May 1984. Deliveries started in 1989, with 28 eventually built, from an original requirement for 42.By 2012 they had been rebranded as the ATL2 and France
had 22 in service. 18 are to be upgraded in two stages, Phase I addressing obsolescence issues and Phase II adding new capabilities. There is a separate project to integrate the new MU90 Impact torpedo.
