HELPFUL TEXTURE & SCENERY INFORMATION
Over the last few months we have a number of emails regarding texture and display problems in our scenery.Most of the requests for help are from newcomers [some from old hands re the Nova Textures]. Understandable, as learning about downloads, Folders, Textures, and files etc can be quite daunting, especially for someone new to Add on Scenery. To help sort out many of the problems here is some advice that may help.

When a scenery developer builds his scenery he uses many COMMON TEXTURES that he assumes are in the MAIN Flightsim texture folder. Many of these textures are included in your flightsim when you install it, others need to be installed by you as detailed below. A developer will normally advise in the installaion instructions which of these extra textures you need.
Common Additional Scenery Textures are:
ASD Airport 2.10 VOD NOVA and NOVAGOLD |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Many of the above textures are commonly used by scenery designers to breathe life into their new creations. These are the texture files you need to place in your MAIN FlightSim TEXTURE Folder. Some scenery's may not require all of them but others will, so put them in anyway, they will all be required sooner or later.
Where to find them | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
ASD Available at flightsim.com (see link below) on the "Must have files" page, look for a link on their Main Page. AIRPORT 2.10 (You only need the textures not the Airport 2.6 program). Available at flightsim.com (see link below) on the "Must have files" page, look for a link on their Main Page. VOD VERSION 3.00 Self extraction file. Available at flightsim.com (see link below) on the "Must have files" page, look for a link on their Main Page. NOVA and NOVA GOLD. Available at flightsim.com however...... MOST IMPORTANT We recommend that you get them from the Nova site. (See link below) Look on the first page for the download section: then download the FOUR texture files. People who have downloaded Nova textures from flightsim.com seem to have display problems with trees. It could be that several textures are missing from the flightsim.com downloads. So again............. Nova from the Nova site. Remember, all the above textures go in the MAIN flightsim texture folder |

After downloading scenery, usually by zipfile, always extract with, "use folder Names" checked, and to a temporary folder your have made on your hard drive. Once extracted you should find a single folder, usually with the name of the scenery you have downloaded. This folder contains two subfolders. One called scenery, one called textures. The texture folder herein, is separate to the texture folder within MSFS itself, usually called the MAIN scenery folder. It will contain special textures that are required for your new scenery.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Scenery's do not necessarily need to be within the Main FS2002/2004 folder. They can be placed to any position on your Hard Drive, maybe in a folder you have created called Airports or My Scenery or whatever. You can browse to your folder within Flight Sim when adding your scenery area.
In this example all our scenery is in a folder called "Airports" on the " C " drive with our new scenery folder highlighted
