Pilot's Handling Notes for a Savoia Marchetti S.M.81 with Alfa Romeo 125/RC35 engines

The three 650hp Alfa Romeo 125/RC35 (Bristol Pegasus) engines have automated mixture controls, and manually applied carb heat controls. Each engine can briefly deliver 680hp for TOGA and war emergency use below 3500 metres.

 

This engine and airscrew combination require a rated rpm technique.

 

LEVEL or DIVING WAR EMERGENCY ONLY = MAX 2300 RPM

 

LEVEL or DIVING COMBAT RATING = MAX 2200 RPM

 

CLIMBING and MAX for TRANSPORT, FERRY and TRAINING FLIGHTS = 2090 RPM

 

AUTOMIXTURE - This engine has Automixture in real life. Turn automixture ON in the FS9 realism screen before flight.
