Readme file for the Boeing 737-600/700/800/900 Captain and FO
panel for FS2002 Pro by Andy Karlstetter (www.ndk-panels.webwide.de)
(the screenshots in this readme file are from a previous
version of that panel, so dont worry, it doesnt look
as bad as on these pictures)
IF YOU WANT TO USE
GAUGES OR IMAGES FROM THIS PANEL PLEASE ASK ME
Installation:
·
To get all the gauges working you must have installed the
FS2002 update which is available on the microsoft homepage or
flightsim.com!
·
Extract all the files into your FS2002 folder with "use
folder names" option enabled in your WinZip (www.winzip.com).
·
Place the panel2.cfg (you can find this file in your FS2000\aircraft\fsfsconv\ndk_b737-700
folder) in the panel directory of an aircraft of your choice and
rename it to "panel.cfg" (if you're asked to overwrite
the old panel.cfg select yes if you want to use my panel on
that aicraft)
About this panel:
This is my 6th
attempt to design a good 737-ng panel for FS, and now, I think
it's quite good (hope you think so, too). Everything started when
a good friend sent me some pictures of a continental 737-ng. A
few weeks later the photos arrived and I scanned them into my
computer but the resolution was too bad so I started to build
another hand_drawn panel and that's what the panel looked like
first:
When I found
Peter Beddig's Glass Cockpit gauges on flightsim.com the panel
was perfect because before I found them I still had to use Eric
Ernst's old PFD gauge set which is not up-to date any more
because it was designed for FS98 or 95.
When the main
panel was finished I thought this panel would need a new overhead
so I searched a good photo of a 737-ng overhead and found Colin
Abbot's overhead of a Brittannia 737. One day later the overhead
was repainted, too. When he answered my permission e-mail he
asked me if I wanted to have the photo in a higher resolultion
but at this time it was already too late because the overhead was
already finished.
For this panel
I started programing gauges. I havent done this before but
the new XML format of the gauges made it possible for me to
access the gauges and write them. A lot of the XML files in the
gauges folder were especially designed for this panel.
How to use:
For this panel you should use a 1024x768 or
higher resolution. I use it in 1280x960 and everything works fine
even the Frame Rates are good .
This cockpit is not very difficult to use
but without knowing the hidden switches it's perhaps not too much
fun to use:
Here's the overhead (red areas don't work
in FS, the green areas do):
the Autopilot, which was especially
designed for this panel. Its a remake of the default 747-400
A/P so it sometimes behaves strange like the one on the 747, thats
not my fault, sorry:
Everything should be clear but heres the description:
1.
Course selector (to change the course you have to click on the
display not on the rotor below, I hope you dont mind, all
the other like HDG selector or speed selector work fine)
2.
Flight Director switch
3.
Autothrottle switch
4.
Mach switch (if you click on it the A/P holds the selected mach
number, you dont have to click on the speed button below
like in the real aircraft, it was too complicated for me to
program this option, sorry)
5.
Indicated Airspeed hold button
6.
Heading hold button
7.
Nav hold button, keeps you on the selected radial of a VOR
station or the GPS path
8.
Vor/Loc hold button
9.
Approach hold button, it keeps you on the glideslope and
localizer on an ILS approach
10.
Altitude hold button (works like in FS 2002 not like in reality)
11.
vertical speed hold button
12.
Autopilot master switch
13.
vertical speed selector (in reality Up and Down are swapped)
Here are the toggle switches of the main
panel:
The toggle on the right side of the standard FS2000 toggles is
the landing view toggle. After the landing view has appeared you
should hit SHIFT+1 to make the main panel disappear. When
switching back into the main panel configuration you should hit
SHIFT+1 again.
Here's the landing view:

Known issues:
·
the second-generation display mode is missing. I left it away
because it was very small and hard to read. And I think no one
would have used it anyway. Maybe therell be an update
someday but dont ask when and if.
·
In the overhead you have a black square next to the Standby Power
stuff when the yaw damper is disengaged (that's a problem I can't
fix)
·
No QNH included. If you want to change the barometric pressure
you have to hit the B key and it will change
automatically to the right pressure.
·
Theres a little difference between the altimeter in the PFD
and the backup altimeter. If the PFD for example shows 29.92 the
backup altimeter would show 29.93, I dont know how this
happens and I have no access to the gauges to fix the problem.
·
No DH selector (I couldnt find a gauge)
well, but the rest should be
ok ;-)
Thanks:
·
Richard Probst for letting me repaint most of his 737 gauges (you
can find his awesome panel on flightsim.com. I think the file is
called "rp733pn2.zip")
·
the whole FPDA, Paul Golding, Andi Jaros and all the other guys
for their great gauges
·
Peter Beddig for his gauges
·
All the other gauge designers
·
Chris Coduto, Colin Abbot (overhead photo) and www.airliners.net for their
great photos
·
Britt Brainard for spending an incredible amount of hours on
testing the beta version
·
And all the others who helped me to make this panel enjoyable
