What does this program ?
General
This program allows to change some data in the new $0201 format bgl files
(new format introduced with FS2004/FS9 ... as far as I know).
The file selection list on the left only reports the new formatted bgl files (first word = $0201).
If this list is not empty for a given folder, you can search an airport name using the Rechercher button.
Actually, JABBgl only changes the elevations of the airport and their components. Other functions will probably be
implemented in future versions.
Before the first change in a bgl file, JABBgl will create a backup copy in the "JABBgl Backup"
folder on your desktop. You may want to destroy this folder after checking the changes.
Thanks :
- Winfried Orthmann who described a big part of the structure of new bgl files
- Daniel Gauthier and Ernst Bosshard for their pertinent advices and help while trying to understand the bgl elevation problem
You run this program at your own risks.
I certify that I checked it quite deeply and remove any discovered bugs.

Elevation change for airports, runways, taxiways, parkings and start positions ("Elévation" tab)
Some scenery addons with airports do change the visual part of runways, taxiways and parkings.
AFCAD2 (excellent program from Lee Swordy) allows to change the corresponding non-visual data in order to make AI traffic to follow the new paths.
By now, AFCAD2 doesn't allow to change the elevation of this paths and sometimes, AI traffic seems to "float" over the ground
or to "swimm" into it due to elevation gap between the basic FS scenery and the addon scenery.
The reason is that FS always takes the elevation of the lower scenery defining the airport, this means the low level basic scenery (in
the <FS9>\Scenery\... folders).
JABBgl allows to change those basic bgl files (provided that they are of $0201 format).
To change an elevation :
- Select a BGL file (in the left part of the window)
- Activate the
Elévations tab
- Double-click on the element to change
- Give answer
- If an airport is changed, allow or not to change its components' elevation too
- Change are made immediately. (But you have to close JABBgl before running FS2004/FS9)
