The year is 1942, and you are a Marine pilot on an island in the South Pacific in the Solomon Islands called Guadalcanal. The US captured a Japanese airfield as it neared completion, and have named it Henderson Field. The US had been holding the airfield against repeated attacks from the Japanese by land, sea and air. The pilots who defend the corner of the island, and fly from Henderson are known as the Cactus Air Force.
A small ship has made it to an island near Henderson. The areas are being patroled by enemy war ships, and there are reports of submarines in the area. The ship is hidden in a cannal and should be safe. The Cactus Air Force will send a Goose to find this ship and retrieve some special supplies.
The weather has been bad, so air attacks are not expected. Enemy ships are in the area, but the poor visibility will help in this operation.
Volunteers are requested to fly the Goose to pick up the supplies just after dark, and return them to Henderson. The mission will start on the beach in line with the end of the runway. Since the modern looking airfield is not appropriate for this mission, the flight will begin and end on the beach.
