Choke NOT pulled and add around 5mm of power
7. Fuel control switch “OPEN“
8.
Tailwheel locked
= lever turned forward
9.
Battery switch “ON“
– while simultanously checking if both LEDs of the prop control unit light up shortly
and turn off again after approx. 1 sec.
à
Self-test of control unit!
One or both LEDs remaining on or blinking is indicative of either a
defective control unit or low battery – do not take off
à
Inform workshop supervisor!
10. Insert key (click on it) and turn Magneto switch to “BOTH“
11.
Fuel pump and ACL (anti-collision light) “ON“
Avionics (radio, GPS and transponder) remain OFF!
12. Propeller area clear ?
13. Start Engine and rev to approx. 2.000 RPM
14. Only when engine is running turn Avionics (Radio) “ON“
15. Choke – if pulled – push in at oil temp. >40°C / 104°F, just so that engine does not die
16.
Warm up Engine for 2min at 2.000 RPM, followed by approx. 2.500 RPM
à Operating temperature:
Cylinder head temperature >= 60°C / 140°F, oil temperature >= 50°C / 122°F
1. Cowl flap completely “OPEN“
2. Magnetos to “BOTH“
3. Prop control unit: Left switch to “AUTO“, right switch to “STOP“
4. Prop to “24“ (smallest prop pitch resp. max. RPM)
5. Fuel pump, Avionics (Radio) and ACL “ON“
6. Choke pushed in – NO LONGER pulled out!
7. Elevator trim adjusted
8. Tailwheel locked (lever turned forward)
9. Fuel tank indicator – check enough fuel?
Ø Engine 4.000 RPM (Prop to “24“)
Ø
Prop to “14“ (potentiometer turned completely to the left)
à Engine drops to 3.400 RPM and green LED turns off!
Ø
Prop to “24“ (potentiometer turned completely to the right)
à
Engine goes back to 4.000 RPM and green LED turns on!
(ATTENTION: switches have a guard!
first pull on switch , then flip it!)
1.
Full power (check if max. RPM – 5.800 RPM – are attained) à max. 5 min!!
2. adjust heading with rudder and rotate with mininmal speed
3. climb with 100km/h / 54KIAS (do NOT accelerate!) and rapidly gain altitude
4.
After reaching safety altitude of approx. 100m / 330ft: reduce peak RPM
à Prop approx.“22“ = 5.500 RPM, continue with full power (only necessary if further rapid gain of altitude is desired, otherwise continue as in 4)
IMPORTANT: Keep an eye on oil- and cylinder head temperatures!
1. Reduce power (manifold pressure) to 20 inHG
2. Reduce engine RPM (Prop approx. “19“) to 4.800 RPM
3. Cruising speed approx. 140 – 160km/h / 75.6 – 86.4KIAS (level flight = Vario “0“)
4. Fuel pump “OFF“
1. Reduce power (manifold pressure) to 16.3inHG
2. Reduce engine RPM (Prop approx. “17“) to 4.200 RPM
3.
Cruising speed approx. 125 – 130km/h / 67.5 – 70.2KIAS
(level flight = Vario “0“)
4. Fuel pump “OFF“
1. Prop remains unchanged
2. Reduce speed to approx. 100km/h / 54KIAS
3. if necessary marginally increase power (by 1 ‑ 5 inHG)
4. Keep an eye on oil- and cylinder head temperatures!
5. upon reaching desired cruising altitude reduce power again
1. IMPORTANT: Reduce speed to approx. 100km/h / 54KIAS!!
2. Prop to “max. 22“ (increase to approx. 5.300 RPM) - under NO circumstance to “24“ à Danger of over-reving the engine!! Apart from takeoff Prop is NEVER set to “24“ à max. “22“ !!!
3.
slowly increase power to approx. ¾ setting (approx. 23 inHG), if necessary apply full power
à Engine RPM must remain
below 5.800 RPM and keep an eye on oil- and cylinder head temperatures!
4.
after reaching desired cruising altitude see 4)
1. Prop resp. RPM remains at cruise setting
2. Reduce power – when necessary to idle
3.
After reaching desired altitude increase power to cruise setting (16 ‑ 21 inHG).
Pay attention to low fuel consumption: Set power to 16 ‑ 17 inHG
and Engine to 4.200 RPM
1. Fuel pump “ON“
2. Prop to “22“ (NOT
to “24“, due to danger of over-reving engine when initiating go-around!)
3. Cowl flap “OPEN“
4. landing speed approx. 100km/h / 54KIAS
5. Completely reduce power at latest on close final à idle!
1. Retract spoilers
2. quickly (NOT digitally) add full power (ensure that Engine does NOT exceed 5.800 RPM NICHT!!)
3. Climb with 100km/h / 54KIAS
4. renewed landing attempt see 7)
1. after reaching desired altitude let engine cool off. Engine- and cylinder head temperature below 100°C / 212°F
2. Reduce speed to approx. 85km/h – not faster, as prop will otherwise not come to a stop!
3. all electrical instruments “OFF“!!
4. Turn magnetos “OFF“
5. when engine stopped flip left switch to “MANU“ and right switch to “FEATHER“. When prop reached feathered state flip left switch to “MANU“ and right switch for 1 – 2 sec. to “HIGH RPM“, then to “STOP“!
ATTENTION: Prop takes approx. 1.5
min, until it reaches
feathered state.
1. If prop is feathered: left switch to “MANU“, right switch to “HIGH RPM“.
2. Set Prop potentiometer to “20“.
ATTENTION: If prop does not react:
Icing of the contacts – shortly press Start button !!
ATTENTION: It takes approx. 1.5 min until prop reaches
end position !!
(start in time!!).
3. when prop reaches end position the green LED turns on
4. Switch on fuel pump and magnetos to “BOTH“.
5. Power lever to idle (max. 5mm from idle position), NO choke (only if engine cooled down totally) !, shortly operate Starter
6. Left switch to “AUTO“, right switch to “STOP“
7.
Adjust Prop and manifold pressure à Cruise setting see 4)
– if engine is cold first warm it up for 2min at 2.000 RPM, then
approx. 2.500RPM !
1. Power lever (manifold pressure) to idle
2. Prop potentiometer to “24“
3. All electrical instruments “OFF“ (Avionics, ACL, fuel pump and FLARM)
4. Magnetos “OFF“, then battery switch “OFF“, remove key (click on it) and hang it on it's hook
