ENGINE START
1. Check the areas on both sides of the prop for clearance.
2. Choke forward.
3. Throttle ¼ inch
4. Master on (up)
5. Shout “Clear Prop”.
6. Turn starter key to one step past “Both” (will automatically return to “Both”). Engine starts

Monitor the instruments, EGT’s, CHT’s ,RPM (tachometer), fuel
gauge, as the
engine warms up to operating temperature.
8. Check areas around both sides and the front of the plane before taxiing
9. Contact ATC (ground) for clearance to the active runway, or at uncontrolled airports make the required calls.
10. Proceed to the active runway when clearance is given by ATC (ground), or at uncontrolled airports make the required calls.
11. Hold short of the active runway, in the run up area, and do the Pre-Takeoff Check list.
PRE – TAKEOFF

Check the EGT’s (do
not exceed 1200 deg. F) and CHT’s (do not exceed 480 deg. F), Altimeter,
compass, fuel gauge, Air Speed Indicator,
Radio and GPS.
13. Check the headset is secure and working properly and fits comfortably.
14. Brakes on
15. Run up the engine to 4000 rpm and do a mag check on both mags.

Check the radio
frequency. (You should be on the tower or airfield frequency before approaching
the Hold Short Line).
17. If necessary, when you are #1 at the Check all control surfaces.
18. Hold Short Line, contact the tower for takeoff clearance, or at uncontrolled airports make the required calls.
PRE – LANDING
1.
Check ATIS for
airport information.
2.
At the prescribed
reporting point, contact the ATC with your landing intentions,
position, etc., or at uncontrolled airports make the required calls.
3. Follow the ATC directions for approaching the airport prior to landing, or at uncontrolled airports make the required calls.
4.
After landing,
exit the runway, report to the ATC you are clear of the active and
follow the ATC directions for taxiing, or at uncontrolled airports make the
required calls.
