There's a simple little hack that will make any FS2K seaplane float in FS2002 water. It's easy. It's all in the contact points, which are in the aircraft.cfg file in FS2002.
First install the FS2K seaplane, then load it for a flight. It will sink like a stone, complete with gurgling sounds and bubbles, but in the process of loading it, FS2002 will copy all the information from the model and air files that lives in the aircraft.cfg file of a FS2002 aircraft and write it into the aircraft.cfg file. So now your plane will have an FS2002 aircraft.cfg file that you can edit in Notepad.
Open the aircraft.cfg file and delete the contact points. Keep these two lines at the end of the Contact Points section:
static_pitch=whatever
static_cg_height=whatever
Those two lines determine the height and angle the plane sits at on the runway or water, so they're correct for that aircraft.
Find an FS2002 aircraft of the same configuration and copy the contact points from it's aircraft.cfg file and paste them into the file of the plane you're converting to FS2002. When you load the plane again, it will float.
It may take some trial and error to get a set of contact points that don't leave the plane floating a few feet above the water, or sunk too deep into it, but if you like seaplanes you probably have a good selection to experiment with. Chances are you can find a set of points that will not only give the plane a proper sit, but will generate wakes and splash effects in the right spots, too.
