A brief history of the computerized visions of the EB-52i
Megafortress with installation instructions and known issues
Yep, that’s the first computer version of the EB52.
It was from the old DOS Game “Megafortress” circa 1988.
This was my first attempt at the EB-52i. Even thought a lot of people liked
it, a few had to complain, so now I send to you the latest versions of the
planes
8 engines

4 engines
Installation
Unzip the file into you aircraft folder. Panel aliased to the 747 and the
sounds point to the 737. There are a lot of good panels if you want to change
it, and as for the sounds I use the B-52 sounds available at Flightsim.com
for the 8 engine one and a large turbofan sound for the 4 engine version
Known issues
Actually they aint my issues but will be issues to those who nitpick and
that no matter how good or how long it took to make it, they will find a fault
and complain.
1) The plane
DOES NOT EXIST!!!!!!!
2) It was built the way I felt it should look. (You know, “artist conception”)
3) SDLEdit and I don’t get along very well, so instead of ruddervators,
the tail control surfaces are split.
4) Tail air cannon is moved using the rudder control.
5) There is some “bleed-thru” of the landing gear through the doors while
in motion.
6) The wing tip gear is different than a B-52. Rationalization: Gear is
moved closer to the center so the plane can land on narrower runways.
Reality: SDLEdit don’t like me. It was brought to my attention that the 4-engine
version in the Book “Fatal Terrain” had no wing tip gear. The wings in the
book had no dihedral (dropping) of the wings. I didn’t do that because I
didn’t want to ruin the integrity of the wing structure and the plane doesn’t
balance very well on a narrow wheelbase.
7) Both aircraft come with FS2002 lights and smoke
8) All textures from the original B-52H are included whether used or not
9) I know the plane was black in the book, but I like it in the dark OD
green. (Please refer to issue #1)
10) If you taxi too fast and try to turn, the thing seems to slide. Let
face the facts…it wasn’t build to drive like a Dodge Viper.
11) Each plane has its own little sets of handling quirks
THE SUPER THANK YOU SECTION
It was a slow night at the Minot Air Force Base’s Foxtrot-one Launch Control
Facility near Ryder, North Dakota when I picked up the book “Flight
Of The Old Dog”. I was so intrigued with the concept that I spent three months
modifying a Monogram B-52D plastic model. When I finished it, I sent a picture
to Dale Brown. He returned my letter with a letter of thanks. The poor plane
lasted two moves in ND, and a move to Reno, NV, but didn’t survive the trip
to New York. I bought Flight Simulator Design Studio Pro for the sole purpose
of attempting to build the EB for the MS Flight simulator. Well I built
one and now have made two more.
Dale Brown gets top billing first. Without his book I would have never made
this plane.
Kotaro Akikawa gets his name in lights next to Dale. Kotaro was gracious
enough to send me the FSC source files for his B-52H, and the SDLEdit macro’s
for the the plane
THE LEGAL STUFF
The old "my plane didn’t break your computer" statement. This plane was
tested using FS2002 on a 1.2Ghz Intel Celeron, 256 Mb RAM, nVida GeForce
MX 400 3D card and a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold Joystick (Don’t laugh, for the
price its pretty good)
