Flown by the Air Training Corps of the
United Kingdom, the Grob Viking TX.1, also known as the
Twin Astir is a high performance fibreglass two-seater
which is used for advanced instruction, cross-country
flying, passenger flights and limited aerobatics.
The twin flys very nicely, although stick
forces are heavy and rate of roll is slow, making her
less nimble than the singles and the lighter primary
trainers. Permitted aerobatics (without water ballast)
are loops, stall turns, spins and chandelles.
