Douglas DC-7 Panel (modified by Tom Gibson and George Carty)

Instructions

George Carty's Introduction

I thank Mitch and Tom for a great panel, but I wanted a version with a dark panel background as was typical in the 1950s. I have also made the BMEP gauges rather than the RPM gauges the primary thrust indication (as was the case in all the panel photos I had studied) and included an HSI on the Captain's panel to make room for DME 1 and 2 gauges. I have also fixed the Engine Starter functionality in FSX.

On the Navigator's panel, you will now find a functional Weather Radar set as found on the Historic Jetliners group panels. This requires FSUIPC to work (at least v3.71 unregistered or v3.50 licensed).

Tom Gibson's Introduction

I would like to thank Ken Mitchell ("Mitch") for creating this wonderful panel. I have only altered things to make them either more accurate or convenient, using information that Mitch didn't have at the time. All this would not be possible without his great panel. I would also like to thank Doug Dawson for his great Supercharger gauge, something never before possible.

FS2004 Panel for the superb Douglas DC-7 made by Tom Gibson and Greg Pepper. With flight dynamics by FSAviator. The aircraft is available at California Classic along with many other excellent aircraft. Insure that you have the base FS2002 aircraft along with the "FS2004 Flight model update".

United DC-7

I have made this panel to be as compatible with the aircraft as well as I possibly could. There are some small changes to the aircraft.cfg file in order to get an accurate interface between the panel and the flight model. These changes do not affect the flight dynamics. I have renamed the fuel tanks, however the size and location has not been modified. There are adjustments so that an accurate hydraulic pressure is simulated.

I would like to give thanks to Tom Gibson and Greg Pepper for the stunning aircraft. I also want to thank Nike Pike and Scott Thomas for there help with the XML code. A big thanks also goes to Doug Dawson for his excellent sound gauge used in this package. Included in this panel is the CD, AM/FM radio by Robert L. Clark. Thanks also go out to Wayne Tudor and Robert Beckelhimer for their help in beta testing the package.

This is the most extensive panel I have ever built. I can honestly say that there is over 200 hrs put into the development of this panel. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have building it. This is not an era correct panel, it has a few modern upgrades in the avionics. The autopilot is of the modern variety along with a newer style Bendix Vor 1, Vor 2, Adf 1 and Adf2. It is also fitted with a GPS system. I added these features due to the many complaints I have received in regards to the difficulty individuals experience trying to master the older systems. My preference is to use the era correct nav aids and if enough request are received for this feature I will release a version of that sort.

Thanks and enjoy!
