Branson
Airport KBBG
New Airport, Scenery, and Flight Plans
for FSX
File Name: Branson_Airport_Project.zip

This project adds a new, detailed Branson Airport KBBG (Missouri) to FSX, which opened in May 2009, and is a privately developed commercial airport.
The construction of the airport, which involved the flattening of several Ozark Mountains, is claimed to be the largest earthmoving project in Missouri history.
As a result, the airport actually sits on a manmade plateau, surrounded by rolling hills.
The airport uses the ICAO identifier BBG, however, the airlines use the IATA code BKG.
The airport is served by AirTran, Frontier, and ExpressJet (Branson AirExpress),
and is located in hilly terrain. Aircraft equipped with a terrain avoidance warning system may experience system activation on final approach.
Birds are in the vicinity of the airport. AFCAD with sloping terrain created using
Airport Design Editor X v1.47.07, and the hilltops were cleared and flattened and roads were added using SBuilderX 3.13.
The terminal, hangar, FBO, and cars were added and modified from stock FSX scenery, using the FSX Object
Tool, to resemble as closely as possible the actual airport.

INSTALLATION
1) Extract the zipped files to a temporary directory, making sure that the "use folder names" option is enabled. Place the "Branson_Airport" folder in your "Addon Scenery" folder. Start FSX and add and activate the new folder through the "Settings - Scenery Library - Add Area..." menus.
2)
There are two sets of files for the "Airport road" to the highway: one for the default FSX roads, and one for the
Ultimate Terrain X add-on package. The files are:
7_KBBG_Branson_Airport_road_default.bgl
7_KBBG_Branson_Airport_road_UTX.bgl
You should NOT run both files at the same time. Simply rename the one you are not using with the *.off extension.
3) Birds are soaring to the east of the runway and should not interfere with the
approaches to either runway. They are easily spotted on approach to RWY
32. If you want to remove them, either rename or
delete the file "8_KBBG_Branson_Airport_ani_birds_Eagles_Thermals.bgl".
4) Mesh Resolution
Unlike other FSX airports that sit on unnatural "plateaus" at 10m
detail, this airport does sit on a manmade plateau in real life. Mesh Resolution was tested at 38m, 19m, and 10m (Mesh
complexity=100). The most natural blend between the airport scenery and the surrounding terrain appears to be at
19m or 10m.
5) "Flickering" textures on default objects
The terminal objects are created from default FSX buildings within the program, and as such, some of the "flickering" roof and door textures on the terminal are a result of the coding in the original program, not this scenery package. I would have chosen
other objects that didn't flicker, but these objects are the closest in style and color to the actual terminal building.
FLIGHT PLANS for KBBG
Commercial
flight plans for KBBG should be accurate as of this date. Plans can be added using a program such as
AIFPC (http://aifs2.pvdveen.net/?page_id=5).
If you don't already have these planes, you will need to add them to your aircraft, and
the AC# will be whatever is next in the sequence of your aircraft. Simply
replace my numbers with yours.
