AVIAT PITTS SPECIAL S 1-T PROCEDURES

BEFORE TAKE OFF

q Check flight controls.

q Check fuel level.

q Set parking brake.

q Start engine (Crt + E).

q Release brakes (Period [.]).

q Smoothly increase throttle and taxi to runway.

TAKE OFF

q Line up aircraft on the runway.

q Smoothly increase throttle to full power (F3).

q At about 70 knots, ease back on the stick and then relax the back pressure.

q Adjust pitch attitude to climb at 100 knots.

CRUISE

q Establish level flight.

q Set throttle at about 17 - 18 in. manifold pressure and prop at 2700 RPM for economical cruising

q Adjust elevator trim.

DESCENT

q Reduce power to about 15 in. of manifold pressure (F2).

q Relax pressure on the controls and the airplane will descend.

q To level off, increase power to original cruise setting (F3).

LANDING

q Set power at about 10 in. of manifold pressure (F2 or F3).

q Adjust pitch attitude and power to maintain about 90 knots.

q Smoothly increase or decrease throttle to adjust descent rate (F2 or F3).

q Over runway, establish slight nose-up attitude. Reduce throttle to idle (F2).
