Private Ex Qatar Amiri Flight Boeing 747SP Departing RWY 30 | Hamilton Int’lHello everyone! Welcome to this video!

Today is the day I can officially say that I have managed to see a Boeing 747SP airborne. And what a treat it was!

For those who don’t know, the Boeing 747SP (SP standing for special performance) is an alternate variant of the Boeing 747 produced in the 1970’s and 1980’s for a variety of commercial airlines intended for ultra-long range flights in a smaller and shorter variant. To this day, only about ten or so aircraft remain, mainly in Government or VIP transport.

This aircraft is an ex Qatar Amiri Flight Boeing 747SP, registered VP-BAT which is currently in search of a new owner at the moment. Last year it was flown to Kelowna for light maintenance at the KF Aerospace hangars where it was held from May to October, when it departed to Hamilton Int’l until a new owner was found.

Well, we knew the aircraft would stay for a while but nobody thought it would be a year. But today, a year and one day later, this gorgeous gem now registered N7477S had had its time at Hamilton and departed down RWY 30 heading to Marana, Arizona where it will undergo a C-Check, new paint job and hopefully a new owner. One thing to add as well is Sam Chui was also on-board this flight so make sure to check that video in a few days on his channel when it comes out. Another aircraft off the bucket list for me. Fantastic catch down here at Hamilton. Enjoy the video!

Cheers,
Ernest G.
