China Airlines Forms Codeshare Partnership with Hawaiian Airlines

aviation_newsChina Airlines will introduce codeshare flights with Hawaiian Airlines at the start of its winter schedule on October 27. Coupled with the two weekly direct Taipei-Honolulu flights it launched on June 2, China Airlines will provide passengers with 11 Taipei-Honolulu roundtrip flights a week. CAL is the only airline in Taiwan offering direct flights to Hawaii. The codeshare flights will deliver more convenient services for customers while helping to expand the CAL network.

The codeshare agreement signing ceremony at the W Hotel in Taipei today (July 11th) was hosted jointly by CAL Chairman Huang-hsiang Sun and Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO Mark Dunkerley. In his speech, Sun said, “China Airlines currently operates nine roundtrip flights on the Taipei-Honolulu route each week. These include two direct flights and seven flights with a stopover in Tokyo. The addition of the two codeshare flights with Hawaiian Airlines each week means there will be 11 roundtrip flights between Taiwan and Honolulu each week. This will help boost business and tourism between the two regions.”

With the Taipei-Honolulu codeshare service, passengers can extend their travels on additional codeshare flights between the two airlines to other destinations in the U.S., Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Travelers taking codeshare flights from Taipei to Honolulu will be able to fly onwards to other Hawaiian islands besides Oahu or cites on the West Coast of the U.S.. Passengers taking codeshare flights from Hawaii to Taiwan can also take advantage of CAL’s network and travel onwards to Southeast Asian cities such as Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, as well as flights between Australia and New Zealand.

China Airlines currently has codeshare agreements with 14 airlines. Besides Hawaiian Airlines, CAL offers codeshare services with Delta Air Lines, KLM, Alitalia, Transaero Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Vietnam Airlines, Korean Air, Czech Airlines, Japan Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Xiamen Airlines. The codeshare agreements enable CAL to expand its global flight network for the convenience of passengers.
