The Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four lands in London

aviation_newsThe Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four is the most important event on the European basketball calendar, and this year, is the first European basketball competition in which both the semi-final and final competitions will be held in London, United Kingdom. Since its inception in 2000 the competition has gone from strength to strength with this season’s competition broadcast to 199 countries and territories.


The Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four basketball competition has come to London with the competition taking place over two action-packed evenings at the O2 in Greenwich. The two semi-finals will be played on Friday May 10th and the spectacular Final, along with the 3rd place game, will follow on Sunday May 12th.

The climax of the European wide basketball competition – which started with 24 teams last October – will see CSKA Moscow take on Olympiacos Piraeus and FC Barcelona Regal will play Real Madrid in the semi-finals, with the winners of those games going through to the final on Sunday.

Alongside the Final Four, the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Fan Zone festival will take place in London’s iconic Trafalgar Square. The fun, family-friendly environment will entertain an estimated 50,000 basketball fans daily with a variety of interactive activities including:

Turkish Airlines Central Court – for the first time in London’s history, a 15m high weather-proof basketball court erected in the centre of the Square will feature 3-on-3 competitions, slam dunk contests, player/legend appearances, the Nike International Junior Tournament and 3-point shoot-outs. The public will have an opportunity to get on the court to take part in competitions and to win fantastic prizes.

Satellite Courts and hoops area – two satellite courts positioned on either end of the Square will feature master classes by basketball pros, giving the public a chance to brush-up on free-throws, shooting, passing, dribbling and even dunks!

Cheerleaders – The best cheerleaders in Europe will perform on several occasions and teach dance lessons to anyone who is feeling in the groove.

Trophy Tour & Official Merchandise – as part of the Final Four build-up, the Euroleague Champion’s Trophy will be displayed in Trafalgar Square, providing fans with the unique opportunity of getting a close–up view of the coveted piece of silverware.
