Norwegian Air Shuttle and Lufthansa Technik sign Total Base Maintenance Support

Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, one of the leading low-cost carriers in

Europe, and Lufthansa Technik AG have recently signed a contract for
a Total Base Maintenance Support TBS[TM]. The contract runs over a
period of five years and covers Base maintenance services for
Norwegian’s growing Boeing 737-800 fleet, which already comprises 55
aircraft of this type.

The main features of TBS[TM] are a sweeping slot guarantee and a
commercial package that is geared towards the customer’s needs. For
example, one of Norwegian’s requirements was that all of its TBS[TM]
aircraft should be overhauled at the Lufthansa Technik site in
Budapest / Hungary during the winter season, as Budapest is a high
frequency destination of the airline and therefore no ferry-flights
are needed. Furthermore – as a TBS[TM] customer – Norwegian has
access to LHT’s whole Base Maintenance Network of facilities for any
additional or unplanned Maintenance needs.

To simplify technical data exchange and to optimize electronic
maintenance management for the customer Lufthansa Technik has created
an interface to the AMOS system of Norwegian.

“With Lufthansa Technik we think we found a base maintenance provider
which is capable to accompany both – Norwegian’s ambitious slot
programs as well as our sustained growth,” said Asgeir Nyseth, Chief
Operating Officer of Norwegian Air Shuttle.

Wolfgang Weynell, Vice President Marketing & Sales at Lufthansa
Technik, commented: “We are extremely pleased that Norwegian is
demonstrating its continued trust in us by signing the
TBS[TM]contract. Step-by-step we have increased our cooperation over
the past years resulting from intensive and trustful talks. This
contract is a great motivation for us to further expand our service
portfolio in the very challenging business field of
low-cost-carriers.”
