New AFI KLM E&M Engine Test Cell Now On Stream

New generation up to 150 klbs thrust engine capability 
Although for the time being the test cell is in use for GE90-94 and -115 powerplants, it will shortly become operational for a wide array of engines, notably including CFM family engines (from the end of this year) and GP7000 powerplants (2014). It will also provide a test capability for all the engines powering the future generation of aircraft.
From 2013, over 300 engines will be tested using this new facility, including over 100 Very Big Engines (VBE).

Service and performance excellence for customers
In addition to the existing facilities in Amsterdam and Paris, Zephyr’s entry into full-scale production is a major turning point in its Very Big Engines Maintenance operations since, henceforth, the Group can offer the complete and adaptive array of general overhaul services, especially for GE90 family engines, from removal, to module and part repairs, to the final test phase.
This latest advance is expected to deliver significant gains in terms of responsiveness, costs and performance. Turnaround Times (TAT), in particular, should be cut by four days, generating substantial overhaul cost savings. Clients will also benefit from real-time tracking of operations in off-site offices.
