NAV Portugal represented by its CEO, Mr. Luis Coimbra, and the COMANDO DA AERONÁUTICA DA REPÚBLICA FEDERATIVA DO BRASIL (COMAER), represented by Air Brigadier Marco Aurelio Mendes, Director General of DEPARTAMENTO DE CONTROLE DO ESPAÇO AÉREO (DECEA) signed a Letter of Intent in Buenos Aires on the 25 September 2012 during  the CANSO Latin America  Caribbean Conference.

Considering the long lasting historical relationship and cooperation shared by Portugal and Brazil, namely between the two air navigation services providers, NAV Portugal and DECEA, this Letter of Intent is aimed at the continuous exchange of technical and operational information in the areas of ATM, R&D, AIS, SAR, CNS and ATFM.

The Letter of Intent is characterized by a cross border spirit that goes well beyond the provision of air traffic services by opening a new and rather auspicious frontier for the deepening and reinforcement of the civil and military cooperation between the ANSPs of both countries that will enable an added value for the sake of aviation safety in both Countries and the South Atlantic area.
