Austrian Airlines Traffic Result until May 2012: Passenger growth by 8 percent

  In the period from January to May 2012, the number of passengers carried rose by 7.9 percent compared to previous year’s figure: 4,375,000 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines. The load factor rose by 3.3 percentage points to 73 percent. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) rose by 2.9 percent. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 7.7 percent.

In May 2012, Austrian Airlines carried 1,036,300 passengers which is 8,500 passengers more than May last year (plus 1 percent). The average passenger load factor, at 75.3 percent, was 3.7 percentage points over the figure for the same month last year. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) fell by 4.4 percent. This is due to the fact that Austrian gave off two mid range aircraft. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 0.5 percent. 

Europe 
In May 2012, around 850,500 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This is 1.4 percent more passengers than last year. The load factor grew by 1.8 percentage points to 74.7 percent. Austrian Airlines increased the ASK by 0.7 percent, the RPK rose by 1.8 percent. 

In the period from January to May 2012, around 3.6 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This is 9.1 percent more than last year. The load factor rose by 2.6 percentage points to 70 percent. The figure for ASK rose by 4.9 percent, and the one for RPK by 9.1 percent. 


intercontinental 
In May 2012, the number of passengers carried on intercontinental flights rose by 1 percent to 140,400. The load factor, which is 76.8 percent, was 5.1 percentage points over the figure of the previous year. Austrian Airlines increased its ASK by 6.8 percent. The figure for RPK fell slightly by 0.1 percent. 

Austrian Airlines carried more than 652,100 passengers in the period from January to May 2012, or 3.4 percent more than last year despite the crisis in the Middle East. The load factor rose by 4.1 percentage points to 75.7 percent. Austrian Airlines increased its ASK by 1 percent. The figure for RPK rose by 6.7 percent. 

Charter 
In May 2012, passenger volume stood at 45,400 which is 5.7 percent less than previous year. The load factor rose by 5.2 percentage points to 67.1 percent. Austrian Airlines reduced the ASK by 11.5 percent. The figure for RPK fell by 4.1 percent. 

In the period from January to May 2012, Austrian Airlines carried 159,600 passengers in the Charter segment. This figure is 1.5 percent more than last year. The load factor rose by 1.5 percentage points to 72 percent. The figure for ASK rose by 4.2 percent, while the one for RPK rose by 6.3 percent.
