Gulf Air adds more flights from Chennai

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has increased its flights between Chennai and Bahrain from 9 to 12 flights per week in each direction to meet growing passenger numbers.

The three additional flights have been conveniently scheduled to leave at night, thus offering more convenient flight options for customers from out of Chennai.

Now with a choice of seven morning departures and five night departures per week out of Chennai, these flights offer excellent connectivity for passengers going to the Gulf, Middle East and European countries via Bahrain in less than two hours.

With the flight increase, customers will also be connected to more new destinations on Gulf Air’s network such as Paris, London, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Rome, Cairo, Larnaca and Copenhagen via Bahrain.

Samer Majali, Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer, said, “India is one of the key markets for Gulf Air from where a large number of people are employed or doing business in Bahrain, the Gulf and Middle East countries. In particular, our Chennai route has seen a high load factor throughout the last year both in terms of passenger numbers as well as cargo, which has encouraged us to introduce extra flights.”

He continued, “We have also introduced split timings with convenient morning and night departures to provide excellent connectivity for people from the southern part of India travelling to Europe, Africa, and Egypt by Gulf Air and to hundreds of cities in the USA via our codeshare partner American Airlines.”

The additional flights also offer six tons of cargo capacity allowing more cargo room and faster connections for traders and businessmen particularly those dealing with perishable products such as meat, fish, fruit, flowers and vegetables.

The additional frequencies depart Chennai five days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, in turn offering both a morning and night time departure out of Chennai to the Middle East and Europe thus providing value-added convenience for passengers wanting to make full use of their day in the city itself before departing on a flight.
